The biggest and most costly mistake made in the college process is choosing the wrong college.

It's the college-decision week for much of the country. The most common question asked of me is- "How do we make our final decision?"

The answer is clear to me how this decision is best made.

While the rest of the country has the "I think..." approach, my students take the "I feel..." approach. 

The difference is the width of the Atlantic Ocean!

"I think" is influenced by everyone else other than the student. It's influenced by guidance counselors, parents, friends, rankings, and outside perceptions. 

"I feel" is influenced by only one person, the student who lives it. 

Once the student arrives on campus, the "I think" talk quickly leaves and is immediately replaced by "I'm feeling" good or bad, inspired or overwhelmed.

"I feel" is the surest way to get on the right campus, with the right people, surrounded by the right environment, and awakening to the right sounds, smells, sights, and spirit of the school culture.

This is the path to creating an inspirational college experience.
